About this Blog!
Thank you for visiting my blog! iRNA is meant to be a forum for discussion about science-related writing and media, but mostly this is just a free space to have fun and share ideas. Please feel free to comment or contact me if you would like! Here is a little bit about each topic for this blog: Books: The books I hope to discuss in this section are really just science-related texts that I have been able to get my hands on. I am NOT an expert in any of the fields discussed here (or anywhere else on this site), but I really enjoy reading books in these genres. As a disclaimer, I would like to mention that I am simply sharing my thoughts and warm-fuzzies about these readings; I am not formally providing a review of any kind or even presenting factual knowledge, I am simply sharing ABOUT science. Journal Articles: This section is devoted to journal article-type texts. My choice of reading here is terribly skewed toward what I am interested in (including but DEFINITELY not limited to: microbiology, biochemistry, plant biology, bees and pollinators, agriculture, medicine, cell signaling). I will provide a citation, and a link to access the article, but unfortunately, I cannot post the article here on the website. Hopefully you will be able to access it if the article is something you are interested in. News: For those not interested in hardcore scientific literature, this section is devoted to "popular" news in the fields of science. A large part of this section might contain rantings about the relationship between biology and the general public, and also contain philosophical discussions of knowledge accessibility. You have been warned. Miscellaneous/Movies: I love watching movies almost as much as I love reading! There are a large number of science (and science fiction) movies out there that are absolutely fantastic, and everyone should watch them. I will discuss some of these here! *image of books from the B Stacks of the Olin Library at Washington University in St. Louis *JB image from http://jb.asm.org Why iRNA?If you are interested at all in the reasoning behind the name of this blog page, you can read up here (I promise, it's not JUST because it sounds kind of cool!)
